Concrete Railing

Heavy Rail
This first attempt at a concrete railing was inspired by a fence I saw in spain. It was concrete as well.

Poured in Sections

Design and proportion are important even in a test project such as this. The railing may be around for a long time.

Each section was built up and poured onto forms with rebar hanging out to catch the next stage. First a square platform. Next, a base, on top of that, the first 24" of columns. The railings were originally going to be three circular tubes, but that proved to have too bulky of an appearance.

The railings, set into place and continuations of the columns around them are the last pour. The rounded block on top held on with mortar only.
