What do you want?

What do you want?

Life is much easier for people who know what they want.

Like so many simple ideas that have eluded me, I need to keep this in mind, like a mantra.

Life is much simpler and easier for people who know what they want.

People who know what they want get other people to pave the way to their desire. They manipulate the world, and squeeze their prize out of it. Without even trying, these lucky people keep asking for, and getting, what they know they want.

Life is much simpler and easier and more rewarding for people who know what they want.

This is a pretty simple formula. Figure out what you want --then go get it! Why is it so hard to do this? Simple, yet difficult. Yes, it is not easy to use just this simple formula. Sometimes we don't know what we want, or want things that cannot be. Other times we are confused and think we want things we, in fact, do not.

So, I am not saying this is the answer to every unhappiness, I am only saying that the only way to pursue a desire is to have a desire. The better defined the desire is, the easier it is to go for.

The moral to the story --start getting what you want, by thinking about what you want. You may want nothing, in which case, you must appreciate the fact that you have everything you want. If you are not happy, or satisfied, fullfilled, then chances are, there is something missing.

Practise defining a desire. See how long it takes to actually get it.

I love a challenging problem, I moreso love coming up with a solution. I find that it is much easier to solve other people's problems than my own. I further find it more satisfying, I think, or at least it takes my mind off my own problems.

Life is much simpler and easier, more rewarding and satisfying for people who know what they want.

Those of you who have a religious bent would say, "Of course, you idiot, just pray". That may be fine for them, but for the rest of us, who struggle with the concepts behind religion, I say that reality is much less mystical, yet no less powerful than supplication.

For one thing, the problem, the answer, and the means for connecting the two are all right here, right now. It may be hard to think," gosh, if I just pray hard enough, my prayers will be answered", but easier, perhaps, to say, " If I just define the problem, and solve it one step at a time, I'll get through this"

Theres no mystery about clarity. People generally do not read others' minds very well. Lots of miscommunication in that form. Stating a desire clearly is the key to many, many seemingly locked doors.

Because instead of worrying about what other people have, or getting mad at a petty rudeness, purpose can fill ones mind with direction! You can't stand around complaining about the present situation when you are driven to arrive at the next.

It's like bicycling through a bad neighborhood. Chances are pretty narrow of anything bad happening to you when you keep moving.

We all have the choice of moving in our own direction and it has nothing to do with selfishness. It has everything to do with selfishness. Ask Ayn Rand. Selfishness is a good thing. Generally, on a superficial level, selfishness is considered bad. Why is it good on higher levels? Because just like bad and good are both just subjective judgements and the reality is only one thing, not divided into two things, Selfishness and selflessness are one in the same when you consider that helping others really can bring great happiness and satisfaction to the one doing the helping.

I can hear the religious crying out, " Of course, you idiot, it IS better to give than to receive! God helps those who help themselves!!!". Right. Okay, I am just restating a truism.

Bear with me, because this is where I sometimes forget. So, you might say, "Ok, I help others, great, what about ME!!! When do I ever get what I want?". Well, if it can be so satisfying to help others, then there will be times when others will find great satisfaction when helping you.

Besides, many times there isn't alot of special help one needs to accomplish a goal, they just need to summon their own capabilities. You may just need others to help by stepping aside and not interfering.

Unless they are frustrated themselves, and even sometimes when they are, people don't mind helping others. Heck, it can be, and usually is, fun. Think about that if you want to summon power. If your desire is for personal gain, it may be difficult to summon power of others, but look how readily help can arrive when necessary to set things straight after disaster. ( note: MANY PEOPLE ARE FRUSTRATED AND UNHAPPY)

In general, people want to help others when they least expect it. They rarely want to help when an alterior motive is sensed. If one could always be doing work that has higher purpose, then any help received along the way can be thought of as contributing to the greater good. Many successful and rich people disguise their personal gain around those helping them. This may or may not be necessary. Some wildly successful people simply assert their massive ego onto the world and think nothing of bulldozing their way through. Either way, definition of the desire is front and center. Visible or invisible, it is strapped to the front of a freight train and whatever is on the tracks will be pushed aside.

Ok now, repeat this over and over. This will work in most situations, however, if you want something that cannot be, better err on the side of caution and start praying.

Life is much simpler and easier, more rewarding and satisfying for people ( and those around them ) who know what they want. Define what you want, and it will come to you.
